EU Referendum Debate
On the afternoon of Thursday 16th June, one week before the British people decide the future of Britain's position within the EU, Clarendon students witnessed a lively debate covering this controversial issue.
Speakers Tim Hegarty for the 'Leave' campaign and Dr. Razvan Constantinou for the 'Remain' campaign debated issues such as the economic outcome of the referendum, housing, the NHS, the position of Trowbridge following the outcome of the vote and even pressing questions demanding to know which side was the most trustworthy!
Members of the Clarendon Debating Society and the Sixth Form were present at the event, and were able to Tweet their thoughts during the debate using #clarendoneu. Following the lively exchanges lasting of for over 40 minutes, audience members were invited to vote in our own Clarendon 'mock referendum.
The voting was close, with feelings high on both sides, but in the end the 'Remain' side triumphed, winning by a tiny margin of just 3 votes. It remains to be seen whether or not the results on June 23rd bear a similar resemblance.
