Exciting Times for Clarendon Combat MMA/BJJ
An MMA session has been running in school for the last 18 months.
Due to the excellent progress by the students in terms of attitude and discipline and their desire to compete I have added a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu team so they can progress further still. I have arranged for us to affiliate with two professionally run BJJ academies that I used to train at so the students can both train and compete under experienced black belts and also progress through the BJJ belt rankings. Six students travelled to our first training session on Saturday all the way up in sunny (really snowy) Abertillery. It was a great first session and students got a taste of what it’s like to grapple with a multiple BJJ champion Richard ’Shaky’ Shore. In addition to this I have also found another school running a BJJ club so we are looking at arranging an interschool competition and also potentially a school league if we can get other schools involved.
