Year 11 Prom 2016
Summer’s Here!! Well, so we hoped as we watched the rain cascade, whilst organising the last few tiny details for Wednesday evening.
In the end, the clouds broke just in time and the skies cleared, followed by many relieved sighs. Over 100 students, relaxed after exams but excited for the evening, and ‘dressed up to the nines’, arrived in a convoy of vehicles stretching back down the road. There was a greater range this year, from a truck cab, through an array of sports cars and limos, to several historical cars, including a fantastic Isetta bubble car and Portia & Corey’s Purple version of Trotter’s yellow Reliant, complete with billowing smoke and ‘whale-tail’ rear wing! I didn’t see anyone trying the huge clockwork key on the boot, so here’s hoping there was enough juice to get it home.
The rainbow array of gorgeous ball gowns and dresses really stood out in the bright evening, with a complimentary range of impressive tailored suits and DJs for the gents.
Summer flourished outside with the Ice Cream van getting there early, and free ice creams for all students as the sky became an even brighter blue. Summer continued inside with bright party decorations, a delicious buffet and summer dance music galore to keep the dance floor thumping through the evening. Beyond expectations, this was topped off by DGS Photography bringing a myriad of props for the ‘photobooth’, there was enough for at least 1 per student there, and boy did they keep that camera going throughout the evening. With the dancing and smoke machine ramped up right until the last track, everyone had an incredible time, and left elated from an energetic evening of celebrations.
Class of 2016 - We hope you have a wonderful bright future!
